Prime Minister Naftali Bennett spoke today (Friday) with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zalansky and offered him Israel's assistance "in all humanitarian aid," the Prime Minister's Office said.
The two discussed the state of war in Ukraine, with an emphasis on the Kiev region, and the president was updated by Bennett on the aid measures that Israel has already taken.
"The Prime Minister reiterated his hope for a speedy end to the fighting, and sent a strengthening to the people of Ukraine in these difficult days," it was reported.
The Ukrainian ambassador to Israel, Yevgen Kornichuk, said in a statement issued earlier than his country's embassy in Tel Aviv that negotiations were underway with the government to send humanitarian aid to his country.
"We have discussed urgent humanitarian aid from Israel, and I am happy to say that we expect to receive it in the coming hours. It is mainly medical aid to the hospitals. We are not talking about soldiers, you have your security matters and we are smart enough not to offer it."

"We are pleased with Lapid's statement yesterday, which condemned the Russian attack on Ukraine," the ambassador added.
"We are now staying strong in the face of Ukraine's attack - we will not give up and we will not be defeated. Unlike Israel, we are facing one of the strongest armies in the world and this will require the Ukrainian people to remain strong in a certain way and on a certain level."
Earlier, Kornichuk said he "does not believe Kiev will fall soon."
"Russia has invaded Ukrainian territory despite all efforts to prevent war. This is the second day of the war, there is a tank battle near Kharkov, there are soldiers on the border of Kiev. The Ukrainian army is using all means at its disposal, including soldiers on the ground. We have many wounded, including civilians. I "I promise you I know what I'm talking about - a lot of people spend the nights at metro stations to be protected from the airstrikes."
