The prime ministers of the federal states spoke with Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) on Friday evening about the situation after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
"The federal states and their municipalities have a crucial role to play, especially when it comes to concrete help for the Ukrainian people and the preparation of a possible admission of war refugees," wrote North Rhine-Westphalia's Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) afterwards on Twitter.
Düsseldorf - Close coordination between the Federal Chancellor and the Prime Ministers is therefore extremely important in this situation.
"In Germany, the levels of government are close together in this difficult situation," emphasized Wüst, who is also chairman of the Prime Ministers' Conference (MPK).
Further details were not initially known.
