The Russian Federation Council has expressed its rejection of the threat of nuclear weapons by the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, blaming him for wasting opportunities to continue the Minsk talks.
“The policy pursued by Zelensky has permanently destroyed the Ukrainian economy and unleashed unprecedented militarization in Ukraine, to the point that he began to threaten Russia with nuclear weapons, and this is unacceptable,” TASS news agency quoted the head of the State Sovereignty Committee, Andrei Klimov as saying. Not at all," he added, adding that the Ukrainian president "destroyed all opportunities to continue the Minsk talks with his statements and actions."
Klimov added that "during the reign of Zelensky, a military operation of a vengeful nature began against the residents of Donbass, which led to dire consequences," noting that "the team that surrounds him consists of people like him or agents of external forces, especially American forces."
Zelensky recently announced at the Munich Security Conference that Kiev might renegotiate its commitments under the Budapest Memorandum, under which it gave up nuclear weapons in exchange for security guarantees.
