Tibi even added in a melancholy tone: "God have mercy on the martyrs."
But the sad truth is that those who need God's mercy in this case, are actually we - the Jews of this country.
Because the real astonishment is not in the face of the audacity of Tibi and his friends on the joint Arab list.
Some have said much worse things in the past.
The real astonishment is from the ease with which these things slipped down the throat of the Israeli public;
From the paralysis that gripped her.
We got used to it.
We have become accustomed to Tibi, who condemns terrorist attacks but participates in the "Palestinian Martyrs' Day" ceremonies and describes the martyr as "the pinnacle of glory."
We have become accustomed to Tibi paying homage to world prisoner Marwan Barghouti (April 2018), who was convicted of five murders and on the 16th anniversary of his "kidnapping" calls him "the commander, sergeant, warrior and friend".
Tibi, who served as an adviser to Yasser Arafat, even mentioned on the occasion that Barghouti's day of arrest was the day of the departure of "a great historical commander, Abu Jihad," the man who was responsible for the bus attack on the coastal road in which 35 Israelis were killed, including 12 children.
We also got used to Ayman Odeh, who is careful to criticize "Commander" Barghouti in prison, and moved on to the agenda of the collective boycott of my fellow members the funeral of former President Peres and their crazy vote, as one man, against peace agreements with the Emirates.
Now, after the mediated work of Arab MKs led to the release from prison of administrative detainee Hisham Abu Hawash, who was previously convicted of attempting to carry out a shooting attack on soldiers and is affiliated with Islamic Jihad, and of security prisoner Maked al-Qawasmeh (Hamas) - we are expected to contain The next project of the Arab MKs: Nasser Abu Hamid.

Ayman Odeh has already showered praise on his mother, Latifa, when he called her: "the mother of heroes" ("A Look at the Palestinian Media").
And Latifa does have other "heroic" sons who are in prison because they too were involved in the murder of Jews.
The bar is crooked
The Arab MKs accustomed us to having difficulty or refraining from condemning terrorism, until we ceased to demand it of them. "Ordinary crime" - in the words of some of them) was particularly disappointing and resounding, for even according to the crooked rulers of some Arab MKs, Ansbacher's murder was a mistake: it was murdered and perpetrated within the boundaries of the "Green Line", seemingly legitimate.

We have become too forgiving not only in the face of their lenient attitude toward terrorism, but also in the face of their stated aspiration to fundamentally change the character of the State of Israel as the state of the Jewish people and their open hostility to Zionism and their support for the "right of return."
In this matter there is no real difference between Abbas' Ram and the commonality of Tibi and Odeh.
The common however does not hide anything.
Use existing law
And there are those who claim that the demand from the Arab MKs to condemn terrorism is "one step too far," in the sense of a "decree they are unable to comply with." A mistake on their part. They are capable. Other Arabs condemned terrorist attacks, especially before the second intifada and the events of October 2000. For example, in October 1994, Hashem Mahmid of Hadash condemned the attack in Dizengoff in which a suicide bomber on Line 5 killed 22 people and wounded 104. We have changed.
Our weakness of mind and our willingness to close our eyes and contain and repress and ignore the slippery slope - have led Arab MKs to assume that almost anything is allowed.
If in the legislatures of Egypt or Jordan, a Member of Parliament would eulogize terrorists who carried out terrorist attacks - he would not only fly out the window and from Parliament, but also stand trial.
If such an event were to take place in a Western parliament, it would be the members of parliament who would take care to keep it out of their ranks, but in our school - a coma.
The legal tools to do so do not need to be invented.
They exist.
The Knesset Members' Immunity Law stipulates that immunity will not stand for those who deny the existence of Israel as the state of the Jewish people or support acts of terrorism against the state or against Jews or Arabs.
Unfaithfulness to the state and causing strife and enmity between different sections of the population, defined as rebellion, is punishable by five years in prison.
Section 144D2 of the Penal Code, which deals with incitement to violence and terrorism, can also be enforced, and an MK can be removed by a majority of 90 MKs due to support for an armed struggle by a terrorist organization against the State of Israel.
But the State of Israel as a democracy has stopped defending itself against MKs who act like Trojans from its "Holy of Holies", the symbol of sovereignty, the Knesset of Israel. In struggles between them, and are unable to unite in the face of a phenomenon that no other Western democracy would have come to terms with.
