Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stressed the need to bring the puppet regime in Kiev to justice for the crimes it committed against the population.
Zakharova said during a press conference today that the Russian special military operation in Ukraine seeks to hold the current figures in the puppet regime accountable for the crimes committed during the past years against civilians, including citizens of the Russian Federation.
Zakharova explained that Russia has done everything in its power to push the Ukrainian authority to dialogue with Donbass and stop the conflict, but the Kiev authority is carrying out the orders of the West, standing against the aspirations of the Ukrainian people, refusing to sign the cooperation agreement with Russia, and evading by all means the implementation of its commitments to the Minsk agreements.
Zakharova pointed out that the Russian forces do not strike towns and cities in Ukraine, but only strike military facilities, and this operation does not pose a threat to the civilian population, according to the mission set by President Vladimir Putin.
Zakharova indicated that the West is working to impose restrictions on the Russian media and close alternative sources of information for fear that the Western public opinion will know the facts.
We hope that the Ukrainian people will liberate themselves from the oppression of the extremist government that exploits the country for the interests of foreign players and begin a full, sovereign life in which the rights, freedoms and interests of all citizens are respected without division on national, linguistic or religious grounds, Zakharova said.
Earlier today, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that President Vladimir Putin is ready to send a Russian delegation to Minsk to negotiate with a Ukrainian delegation.
