Bulgaria, Poland and the Czech Republic announced today the closure of their airspace to various Russian civil aviation companies, against the backdrop of the Russian military operation in Ukraine.
A source close to one of the Russian airlines told Sputnik that "Bulgaria, Poland and the Czech Republic sent a notice regarding the closure of airspace to civil aircraft of Russian companies."
Earlier, the British Minister of Transport instructed the British Civil Aviation Authority to avoid Ukrainian airspace in light of the recent developments there.
Britain also announced the closure of its airspace to planes belonging to Russian civil companies and imposed sanctions on Aeroflot, while the latter suspended yesterday all its flights to the British capital until May 23, in a step in response to the sanctions imposed by London against Moscow.
