Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for the need to strengthen vaccine support against the Corona virus for developing countries, the importance of research on mutated viruses, and cooperation in developing drugs to increase the vaccination rate.

"It is necessary to strengthen support for COVID-19 vaccines for developing countries, especially African countries," Wang was quoted by Xinhua as saying today during a high-level debate of the United Nations General Assembly entitled (Stimulating Momentum for Global Vaccination), urging all parties to improve disease prevention and control measures and strengthen Research in relation to mutated viruses and cooperation in the development of drugs based on increasing the rate of vaccination.”

"China is ready to work with all parties to strengthen cooperation in vaccines and jointly build a health community for all, especially as it is the first country to support the exception of intellectual property rights for vaccines, and it is the first country to transfer technology to developing countries," the Chinese minister added.

"It is necessary to actively assist developing countries to strengthen public health systems, adhere to genuine multilateralism, and improve the global health governance system," Wang added.

Wang noted that China has so far provided more than 2.1 billion doses of vaccines to more than 120 countries, with one out of every two vaccines being used globally (made in China).
