Most recently, the woman collided with the car of a 74-year-old driver who was driving directly behind the family.

The 39-year-old suspected cause of the accident, the 50-year-old driver and the children's parents, a 29-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man, were seriously injured and taken to hospitals.

The other two people involved in the accident were uninjured.

Photos showed a completely destroyed vehicle lying on its side.

Objects are scattered on the lawn next to the wagon.

According to the police, several ambulances and helicopters were in action on Friday. 

The fire brigade freed the trapped family from the car and resuscitated the two children, although any help came too late for the younger son.

Emergency chaplains took care of the psychological care of all those involved and the emergency services.

The police are now investigating negligent homicide, negligent bodily harm and a prohibited motor vehicle race.
