While war is raging in Ukraine, a young man makes his way from Basel to the border.

The man travels more than 1,000 kilometers to save his wife.

All of Jodel is rooting for him.

Freiburg/Kiev - The Ukraine war has kept the whole world in suspense for days.

As events unfold on the ground, a love story on Jodel is currently warming the hearts of thousands of readers.

A man drives from Basel to the border with Ukraine to rescue his wife from Kiev.

The Jodel network often provides funny stories, but in this case thousands of people supported a user who wanted to pick up his wife from Ukraine.

More than 35,000 Jodel users (as of Saturday, February 26) reacted to the announcement of the unknown man, who set off from Basel on Thursday to bring his wife to safety.

"So people.

I'm just going to Kiev to pick up my wife.

She can't get away.

Wish me luck, ”explained the unknown man on Thursday in his initial yodel.

Accordingly, he left his business trip in Basel by car around 11 a.m. on Thursday morning.

The news spread quickly, and on the same evening many anonymous users jumped to the side of the unknown man from Freiburg.

While many users still doubted the authenticity of the yodel at the beginning, after all all users can write whatever they want anonymously, the yodel creator (who is called OJ on Jodel by the way) documented his location with live photos.

In addition to tanks on the autobahn, the anonymous man also showed photos of gas stations on his journey where fuel was already sold out.

A live photo of his GPS also proved that the man must have actually been on his way to Ukraine.

The young man also published a selfie.

Everything is still not 100% confirmed, but there is little reason to doubt his story.

Hundreds of yodels quickly gathered, jumping to OJ's side.

As OJ explained in the course of the yodel, his wife, who says she was born in Ukraine, initially holed up in a subway bunker with her younger sister in Kiev.

During the course of Thursday evening, the two young women were able to save themselves by hitchhiking, at least on a motorway towards Poland.

Hundreds of users jumped to the side of the anonymous man with current information and an assessment of the situation.

Under public yodelling, references to open border crossings were exchanged and information from the Foreign Office was shared.

Many yodels advised OJ to think about fuel and cash before crossing the border into Ukraine.

But it didn't get that far in the end.

Because while OJ was approaching the border with Ukraine for hours, his wife and her sister were able to get on a taxi driver towards the Polish-Ukrainian border.

The goal of the two: to meet at the border crossing from Poland to Ukraine.

In the early hours of Friday morning, the anonymous yodel reached the border.

And his wife and her little sister had also reached the border crossing on the Ukrainian side.

And again, thousands of yodellers cheered, the anonymous man says he waited more than six hours for his wife to cross the border.

Shortly before 5 p.m. German time, the redeeming photo: the anonymous man from Freiburg can finally hug his wife again.

The published photo collected more than 20,000 "likes" within a very short time.
