A 58-year-old female cleaner was knocked out by a private car while cleaning up debris on Tin Shui Road today (26th) after a traffic accident in Tin Shui Wai. The driver of the private car ran away.
The victim's daughter even appealed to witnesses on social platforms to provide information and bring the driver involved to justice.
After investigation, the police arrested the 31-year-old male driver surnamed Yang in Yiyuan Village, Hung Shui Qiao. He is being detained for investigation.
At about 10 am this morning, a 58-year-old female cleaner surnamed Huang was knocked down by a private car while cleaning debris at the intersection of Tianrui Road near Junhongxuan. The female Huang suffered severe head injuries and the private car drove away. The driver passed by and called the police and sent the injured to Tuen Mun Hospital for emergency treatment.
According to the cleaner's daughter, Carmen, this afternoon, the mother's intracranial pressure soared due to a brain hemorrhage, and she is now relying on equipment to breathe, but she has not yet passed the dangerous period.
She appealed to the public on social platforms today to provide information to find the whereabouts of the driver.
In the evening, the police said that after preliminary investigation, it was believed that the private car involved was travelling south along Tin Shui Road in the direction of Tin Shui Wai when it hit a female cleaner near the above-mentioned vehicle entrance and exit, and then fled towards the center of Tin Shui Wai.
Police officers later arrested the male driver in Yee Yuen Village. He was detained for investigation on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm to others, failing to stop after the accident and failing to report to the police after the accident.
