Winter sports fans still get their money's worth here

While skiing is still going on at Brauneck, cross-country skiers will only find a few groomed trails.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen – Winter is sporadically rearing its head again these days with snowfall – and the upcoming carnival holidays are a good opportunity for many to do winter sports again.
In fact, some ski and toboggan runs in the district still have good conditions.
It will be much more difficult for cross-country skiers - but they will occasionally find what they are looking for.
"All three valley runs in the Brauneck ski area are open," announces Peter Lorenz, Managing Director of the mountain railway.
According to him, the “best conditions” prevailed, especially since around ten centimeters of fresh snow had been recorded in the upper areas in the past few days.
A 2G card is required to use the cable cars and ski lifts.
Students under the age of 14 are exempt.
Lorenz expects skiing to be possible until at least the end of March.
Few trails for cross-country skiers
Cross-country skiers, on the other hand, currently only have a few trails in the district.
In the Jachenau, only the eight-kilometer section from Leger to Letten (skating and classic) is passable, as Sonja Eichbichler, head of the Jachenau guest information, reports.
This trail is groomed fresh every day.
The route from Tannern to Dorf can only be partially used due to the lack of snow.
Current information on the navigability of the trails can be found on the website of the Jachenau municipality under the heading trail report.
Of the seven trails around Lenggries, only two are currently groomed, explains Andrea Fischbacher, a staff member at the tourist information office.
It is the route from Fall to Vorderriß (nine kilometers, classic) and from Vorderriß to Wallgau (13 kilometers, classic and skating).
Fischbacher does not expect that the remaining trails will be groomed again this winter.
In addition, despite fresh snow, the "underlay is insufficient".
Natural toboggan run on Blomberg still has enough snow
On the toboggan run at the Reiseralm in Lenggries, there will be no more sleds going down the mountain this winter.
The landlord Alois Oswald had already decided last week to close the railway early.
Here, too, the reason is: lack of snow.
At the natural toboggan run on the Blomberg, on the other hand, there is no problem with too little snow.
"We still have a good base of snow," says Hans Zintel, operator of the Blombergbahn.
This is partly due to the snowmaking systems.
The two-kilometre-long cable car runs from the middle station to the valley station.
On Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. there is also night tobogganing with an illuminated descent.
"I'm assuming that we can definitely keep the toboggan run until the end of the holidays," explains the cable car operator.
According to him, as long as the temperatures allow, the descents can be sufficiently prepared.
After the carnival holidays, however, the routes will only be open to sledders on weekends.
