The farmers of Al-Hasakah Governorate have finished cultivating their lands with aromatic crops for the current winter season, increasing the cultivated area to more than 28 thousand hectares distributed in various areas of agricultural stability.
The head of the Plant Production Department in the Directorate of Agriculture, Engineer Jalal Bilal, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the area planted with aromatic crops exceeded what was planned by several times as a result of the farmers’ interest in planting them for various reasons, the most important of which is the low production costs and the presence of a strong market for the disposal of production, noting that the cultivated area was distributed among 16 thousand and 650 hectares of cumin, 10150 hectares of coriander and 1450 hectares of black seed.
It is noteworthy that the area planned for the cultivation of aromatic crops in Al-Hasakah Governorate for the current season is 5505 hectares.
