Munich – The war in Ukraine has almost pushed another topic out of the public eye: Corona.
But the virus is still raging in Germany.
The incidence in Bavaria rose slightly on Monday.
The Robert Koch Institute * (RKI) reported a value of 1696 new infections at the beginning of the week - an increase of 0.7 compared to Sunday.
In a week-to-week comparison, however, the incidence in Bavaria has fallen.
At the beginning of last week, the RKI reported a value of 1789.2 for Bavaria.
The number of new infections reported within one day also fell from almost 21,000 to around 18,800 in a weekly comparison.
Corona in Bavaria: Incidence well above the national average
Nevertheless, on Monday the incidence in Bavaria was again well above the national average of 1238.2.
Only for Saxony-Anhalt did the RKI show a higher value (1841.5).
The number of deaths in Bavaria in connection with the corona virus since the beginning of the pandemic has increased by 2 to 21,315.
But: Experts are currently assuming a high number of cases that are not recorded in the RKI data.
One reason is the limited capacity of health authorities, for example, and contacts are often only tracked to a limited extent.
In addition, according to the ALM laboratory association, there is now a larger number of people whose infection is no longer confirmed by a PCR test - these infections are therefore not included in the official statistics.
Bavaria: The number of corona patients in the intensive care units is declining
371 corona patients in intensive care (previous week: 401)
158 had to be ventilated invasively (previous week: 180)
