Can private households and companies soon look forward to lower electricity prices?
The EEG surcharge will be taken over by the federal budget earlier than planned - and consumers should benefit.
According to Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens), the relief from the planned abolition of the EEG surcharge should be passed on in full to electricity customers.

This emerges from a draft by his ministry, which is available to the German Press Agency.
The “Süddeutsche Zeitung” had previously reported on the plans.
The coalition of SPD, Greens and FDP agreed last week that from July the green electricity surcharge should no longer be paid by customers via their electricity bills, but via the federal budget.
This step was originally planned for early 2023.
The levy is intended to promote the expansion of renewable energies.
It secures a fixed purchase price for the producers of green electricity.
