A motorist was sentenced on Monday February 28 by the Lille Criminal Court to four years in prison, one of which was suspended for having injured a policewoman by running over him during an attempt to flee after refusing to comply.
Five years in prison, including one year suspended, had been requested against this 27-year-old driver, tried in immediate appearance in particular for "
violence on a person in charge of public authority with a weapon while intoxicated
" and “
aggravated refusal to comply
”.

On February 4, at 6:50 a.m., the police wanted to check the defendant while he was driving with the lights out and his passenger was consuming nitrous oxide in Hellemmes, a district of Lille, said the president.
But the defendant, father of three children and manager of a "
catering trade

did not want to stop
" and a chase then began for ten minutes in the streets of Lille until until he hits a dead end.
Forced to stop, the motorist, already convicted five times, in particular for "
driving under the influence of an alcoholic state
“, then tries to flee by reversing and hits the policewoman who got out of the vehicle, resulting in a total incapacity for work for more than a month due in particular to a fracture of the pelvis.

", testified the policewoman at the helm.

I rolled a few times under the vehicle, I heard it go into forward gear, it ran over me, I felt my bones crack.
I was paralyzed, I saw myself dying
, ”she continued.
The driver and his passenger were finally arrested after the use of his weapon by another police officer.
The 16-year-old passenger was not charged.
At the helm, the defendant, in detention since the events, assured that he had "
not seen the policewoman
".

I thought I was rolling over the curb, I didn't want to run over it, I'm not crazy to do that...
", he defended himself.

I am aware that what I have done is serious, but I had no intention of doing so.
