North Rhine-Westphalia's Economics and Energy Minister Andreas Pinkwart (FDP) has called for the coal and nuclear phase-out to be reviewed.
"All options must be on the table," said Pinkwart on Monday after a special meeting with his country colleagues.
In view of the unclear consequences of the Russian war against Ukraine for the energy supply in Germany, "it should be urgently examined whether and under what conditions the nuclear power plants in Germany can remain in operation for a limited period beyond 2022," says an eight-point Paper presented by Pinkwart.
Dusseldorf - Due to the crisis in Eastern Europe, delivery failures for fossil fuels must be expected, "which can have a significant impact on the security of supply in Germany and Europe".
The FDP politician is currently chairman of the conference of economics ministers.
There should be “no bans on thinking and taboos”.
In addition, according to Pinkwart, the debate about an earlier phase-out of coal should not be broken before 2030.
Predeterminations should "currently be avoided at all costs", according to the paper available to the dpa.
The federal government should reconsider the review step planned for the end of this year for the early coal phase-out.
"Against the background of the current crisis situation, the Federal Government must now give top priority to maintaining security of supply."

Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck (Greens) considers both to be unsuitable for compensating for any supply bottlenecks caused by a delivery stop to Russia.
Nevertheless, his ministry is checking that, he said on Sunday in the ARD “Report from Berlin”.
“There are no taboos on thinking.” In its coalition agreement, the traffic light federal government has set itself the goal of “ideally” achieving the phase-out of coal-fired power generation that was agreed for 2038 as early as 2030.
