A pensioner from Olching has fallen in love with another woman.

However, apparently his faith did not allow him to separate from his wife.

Then he grabbed a pillow.

Nevertheless, the court was lenient.

Olching/Munich – It was an act of desperation.

Unplanned, amateurish and not executed and yet charged with attempted murder.

Nevertheless, on Friday, the Munich II regional court sentenced a pensioner (66) from Olching to three years in prison for dangerous bodily harm.

On a June night last year, he tried to suffocate his wife with a pillow.

The hoped-for probation of the defense did not materialize.

Olching: Man tried to suffocate his wife with a pillow

The 66-year-old had fallen madly in love with a much younger woman.

But the 45-year-old disliked the state of an affair.

So the defendant opted for a divorce.

However, his free community of faith did not allow him to do so.

Before the act, the man began to pray to his Lord.

He might let his wife die in an accident.

Nothing happened.

One night in June, the man realized that he would have to lend a hand himself.

It drove him around the house, finally he grabbed a living room pillow and went into the shared bedroom.

She yelled, "Go away from Satan" - and it worked

Turning on the light woke his wife to see the pillow coming toward her.

She was able to defend herself, so the man hit her in the face and covered her mouth and nose with his hand.

She fought free, rolled over his free side over the marital bed and fled past the cat scratching post into the bathroom.

Before that she called "Satan begone!" That worked.

The defendant let her go, had her call the police and run down the stairs.

When officers arrived and confronted him with the accusation that he wanted to kill his wife, he immediately admitted: "That's right."

For the presiding judge Thomas Bott, the act was not a very rare case constellation.

Violations of the fifth and sixth commandments would occur more often in partnership killings, he remarked somewhat ironically.

In the present case, however, a clear resignation from intent is recognizable.

This was decisive for turning away from the attempted murder and the guilty verdict of dangerous bodily harm.

"You were wrong and you were wrong," the judge said in the verdict.

Marital fiduciary duties still exist, he added.

He wished for the end of the picture book marriage

But the defendant had broken it during a wellness vacation with his girlfriend, which is why he was in conflict as to whether he was clean enough to take part in a religious event of the joint faith community in Frankfurt.

This should take place shortly after the day of the crime.

That question haunted him, as did his prayers for a horrific accidental death.

He wished for the end of the 30-year picture book marriage.

In this state of emergency, he grabbed the pillow.

The exclamation of his wife, who suspected the devil in him, triggered the change of heart to let go of her.
