The number of confirmed cases of the fifth wave of new coronary pneumonia continues to rise. Many citizens use rapid test kits on their own, but positive results have not been recognized by the government and are not regarded as confirmed cases.

The government announced last week that it would launch a new platform to allow people who test positive for a rapid test to register their positive results directly through an online system, but the system has yet to be rolled out.

Au Ka-wing, chief physician of the Infectious Diseases Division of the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health, said today (28th) that preparations for the platform are in full swing, with the goal of launching this week.

He said that citizens need to buy test kits that meet the standards, otherwise false positives may occur. He reminded the public to go to the website set up by the department to find out whether the rapid test kits they purchased meet the standards.

The Centre for Health Protection has also launched the "Infectious Diseases Public Platform" recently, allowing citizens who have received notifications of positive nucleic acid test results to declare information on family members living with them by filling in an electronic form.

Ou Jiarong said that the system has collected 120,000 registrations, but only 56,000 of them tested positive for nucleic acid tests. It is believed that the others were positive for rapid tests.

He said that after the launch of the new platform in the future, relevant parties will need to submit information.

The government said earlier that although the sensitivity of the rapid test kit is slightly inferior to that of nucleic acid testing, it can still quickly and relatively accurately detect patients with high viral load. In the future, positive results can be registered directly through the online system, without the need for nucleic acid test confirmation.

However, the online system has not yet been launched. On the contrary, the "public platform for infectious diseases" was mistakenly filled in as a new system.

The test kits distributed by the government are of the following brands: (1) Tuoyi, (2) Thermal Bio, (3) Hosin, (4) AESKU, (5) King Wolf, (6) BGI YHLO, (7) Wan Fu.

Ou Jiarong said that the platform is in full swing and hopes to launch this week.

Asked how citizens should handle if they use substandard rapid test kits, Ou said that citizens should buy test kits that meet the standards, otherwise false positives may occur.

As for whether it complies with the standard, he recommends buying it from a reputable merchant, or going to the website set up by the department to find out whether the purchased rapid test kit meets the standard.

He continued that the reported patients will be regarded as confirmed cases, and the authorities will issue an isolation order, and their family members living with them will need to be quarantined.

65,000 self-test positive patients mistakenly filled in the "public platform for infectious diseases"

Regarding citizens who had positive rapid test results by mistakenly filling in the "Infectious Diseases Public Platform", Ou Jiarong said that so far 120,000 people have submitted information on the platform, of which 56,000 were positive for nucleic acid tests, and the remaining 65,000 believed that most of them were Rapidly test positive citizens.

He said that after the launch of the new platform in the future, a text message will be sent to remind those who fill in the wrong platform to submit their information on the new platform.

He continued to point out that citizens who have recently tested positive for the rapid test can supplement the information after the launch of the new platform, and the quarantine period starts from the day of sampling as "Day 0".

In addition, some patients have not received a notification after filling in their information on the "Infectious Disease Public Platform".

Ou Jiarong said that due to the backlog of cases, he admitted that there must be a lag. He apologized to the public for this, and will speed up communication with relevant departments to deliver epidemic prevention information and related documents to positive citizens.
