A former CIA agent believes she can see a personality change in Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In an interview, a former CIA agent provides information on the state of health of the Russian President - Vladimir Putin is said to have changed.

Moscow – In the Ukraine conflict*, numerous rumors are circulating about an ailing mental health condition of Vladimir Putin*.

This could therefore have contributed to the decision to invade Ukraine*.

In an interview with the US news service MSNBC, a former CIA agent gave information about the physical and mental health of the Russian president.

Tracy Walder, who worked in both the CIA's counter-terrorism department and as a special agent with the FBI, spent time in Russia*.

"I think Putin acted that way for most of his tenure," Walder said when asked by the moderator why Putin might have taken the step to invade Ukraine.

“He was serving when East Germany fell and the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 – he was there.

And I think he almost sees it as a personal defeat."

Walder believes that he would therefore like to see Russia as powerful again as it was in the 1950s and 1960s - in his eyes Ukraine is an obstacle to this: "He sees Ukraine at the moment as a country that is managed by another country is busy.

And this other country is sort of a Western influence, if you will,” Walder points out.

But the fact that he is acting so mercilessly could also be related to a change in the nature of the 69-year-old president.

President Emmanuel Macron from France* also pointed out a change in Putin's behavior.

In telephone conversations about the pandemic, for example, he often turned in circles and seemed confused.

"That's one thing I've noticed lately, even - and I know it sounds superficial - but if you really just look at pictures of him, which I do quite often, even the shape of his face has changed.

He looks different, he speaks differently, and he's moved on to what I almost consider to be the dark side of the story," said Walder.
