New alert from the United States government to its fellow citizens.
After recommending that they not go there, the US State Department on Monday called on its nationals present in Russia to leave the country “immediately” by “the commercial travel options still available”, following the invasion of Ukraine by Moscow.
He warns that these commercial options are rapidly diminishing, due to international sanctions that include the closure of the airspace of many countries to Russian planes.
Risk of “harassment”
This warning from US diplomacy was issued to also take into account the decision taken on Monday to allow non-essential staff of the US Embassy in Moscow to leave.
“The capacity of the American administration to provide routine or emergency services to American nationals in Russia is extremely limited”, underlines the State Department, which also warns against the risk of “harassment” of the Russian authorities targeting Americans.

In response to the closure of the airspace of many states to Russian planes, the Kremlin decided on Monday to restrict the flights of airlines from 36 countries.
Among the States concerned are all the countries of the European Union, the United Kingdom and Canada.
According to Rosaviatsia, flights by airlines from these countries can still be carried out provided they obtain a "special permit" issued by the Russian authorities.
