Today, March 1, marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Prime Minister and Chief of Staff Yitzhak Rabin.
Rabin, who was assassinated on November 4, 1995 by Yigal Amir in the Kings of Israel Square at the time, was born in 1922 in Jerusalem.
He fought in most of Israel's wars, when among other things he served as chief of staff during the Six Day War in which Jerusalem was liberated.
As prime minister, Rabin signed the peace agreement with Jordan and the Oslo Accords with PLO chairman Yasser Arafat.
Rabin, a member of the Labor Party, served as prime minister for two different terms, and previously also served as defense minister.
