Purim 2022: Drink, Enjoy - and Do Not Practice Israel today

2022-03-01T09:13:08.201Z

Purim is not only the big holiday of costume makers, but also a celebration for liquor stores that offer unprecedented deals • So how do you choose the right alcohol, how much does it cost and which of you volunteers to be the driver on duty?

Purim is already here and it's time to stock up on a costume and a fine pack of alcohol without which no ball will be complete.

So what are the trends this year and how has the corona and cost of living affected our glass of whiskey?

An in-depth review of liquor stores reveals that the wave of price increases has reached here as well.

A number of alcohol importers have recently notified their customers of price increases of up to 25%.

The reason: rising raw material prices and rising transportation costs.

However, as with any holiday, you can also find a variety of alcohol specials here.

For example, in Aqua Vita you can find a bottle of Jane Bombay 47% 47 for NIS 109.90 instead of NIS 139.

In the whiskey department you will also find equal promotions, such as 12-year-old Bonhaven whiskey 700 ml for NIS 169.90 instead of NIS 199.90.

The happy company offers Jack Daniels rye for only NIS 169 and ready-made cocktails in four flavors (12 units) for only NIS 99.

The Derech Hayin chain offers Gautier Sava liqueur for NIS 139 instead of NIS 179.90, while Rum Plantation Tea H 20 is sold for Purim for NIS 239 instead of NIS 299.90.

On these attractive prices should be added a 10-20 percent discount for club members and in most sites also a 5 percent discount on the first purchase.

Do not give up accessories for alcohol: glasses that keep the drink cold three times longer, a bottle neck strap, a crazy bottle opener, a vacuum pump, silicone caps, a luxury bottle stand and more - we found all these crazy items in the store www.swagg.co.il (and on the street The Art 12 Netanya).

PS: Alcohol is fattening

If you are not sure how to choose alcohol, here are some rules of thumb to keep in mind.

Let's start with beer: The Israeli consumer drinks 14 liters a year (very far from the Czech record, with 131.7 liters per person), and yet, according to the number of boutique breweries that are set up here, there is no doubt that there is an increase in awareness of beer culture.

Two things worth knowing in the context of beers.

One, beer prices in Israel are among the most expensive in the world;

Second, beer will ruin your every diet.

A third of a beer has about 140 calories and a pint has about 225 calories.

If you are a fan of Iraq, you should drink in moderation, as the percentage of alcohol in the drink can reach 80 percent.

Price: NIS 85.9-59.9.

Most whiskey brands have 40% alcohol, but bourbon for example, contains at least 51% alcohol.

Price: NIS 150-550.

Price in calories: 150 calories for a small glass of whiskey.

One of the drinks that is on the rise is vodka, thanks in part to strong brands such as Finlandia, Van Gogh, Stoli and Absolut.

The alcohol percentage in vodka starts at 35 (Van Gogh pineapple, coconut and pomegranate for example) and reaches 88 (Balkan vodka 176).

A serving of vodka costs an average of NIS 50-30, and to enjoy a premium vodka, it is not inconceivable that you will have to invest around NIS 80.

Finally, two warnings are requested for the celebrants.

One, consuming high amounts of alcohol is harmful to health.

Second, the Israel Police has announced that it will hold large forces throughout the holiday, to make sure drivers get on the road without a high level of alcohol in their blood.

So if you drink - do not drive.

Choose a driver on duty, and chaperone him at the next exit.
