Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that the Russian army will continue the special military operation in Donbass until its goals are achieved, stressing that the main task is to protect Russia from an external military threat from the West.
“The grouping of the armed forces of the Russian Federation will continue to conduct the special military operation until the set goals are achieved,” Shoigu said in a conference call today, explaining that “the operation is being carried out in order to protect the Donbass population and disarm Ukraine.”
"The main thing for us is to protect Russia from the military threat posed by Western countries that are trying to use the Ukrainian people in the fight against our country," the minister added.
Shoigu stressed that the Russian army "does not occupy Ukrainian territory, but rather takes all measures to preserve the lives and safety of civilians," noting that "strikes are carried out only on military targets and exclusively with high-precision weapons."
