The Language Institute at Al-Baath University in Homs has implemented several intensive English language courses since the beginning of this year to contribute to the development of students’ linguistic capabilities and provide them with the qualifications necessary to enter the labor market.
Dr. Abdul Basit Al-Khatib, President of Al-Baath University, confirmed to SANA Youth that the institute is a fertile scientific environment for learning students who are about to enter the labor market by providing them with opportunities to upgrade their language skills in Arabic, English, French and Russian, in addition to other foreign languages.
Dr. Maurice Al-Omar, Dean of the Institute, said that the intensive language courses implemented by the Institute met the needs of the students, who numbered about 150 students, pointing out that the Institute recently conducted a placement test for about 500 students in English, French and Russian, before announcing the start of the courses in those languages. Early this month, including 60 sessions over two and a half months, during which students are granted a document certified by the university.
He also indicated that the institute also conducts registration exams for master's and doctoral degrees, appointment and rooting exams for members of the educational and technical staff.
