Moscow – Peace protests and vigils are taking place around the world to show solidarity with Ukraine and the victims of the war.
In Russia, too, civilians show their sympathy, which Russian President Vladimir Putin* does not tolerate.
Numerous people have already been arrested at demonstrations against the Ukraine war in various cities in Russia.
There is no exception for children either, as shown by pictures from social networks.
Moscow: Children put flowers in front of the Embassy of Ukraine - and are arrested
Scenes showing Russian children behind bars are currently causing horror on Twitter and Instagram.
A Ukrainian-American investigative journalist posted this and drew attention to it.
According to a report by the independent Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta from Moscow, several children between the ages of seven and eleven were arrested along with their mothers for laying flowers in front of the Ukrainian embassy in Moscow.
Among other things, they held signs in their hands that read “No to war” or “Stop the war”.
War in Ukraine: Putin meets with protest and resistance
But even such peaceful protests are severely punished immediately.
The children were arrested directly by law enforcement and held in a police car.
During the war, Putin's army has encountered strong resistance from Ukrainian troops and the civilian population.
Russia's losses in Ukraine are now enormous: more than 5,000 soldiers are said to have died in the war.
But the Russians are advancing and are particularly targeting the capital Kyiv and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
