France is committed to achieving carbon neutrality by the middle of the century, so as to limit global warming to +1.5°C.
To achieve this, it will have to have completely changed its economy to no longer depend on fossil fuels.
A first step has been set: by 2030, France will have to halve its CO2 emissions.
The CFDT union published on Wednesday a first and rare detailed study on the efforts and investments to be made to achieve this.

Last summer, the European Commission presented its "Fit for 55" plan, aiming to reduce CO2 emissions by 55% by 2030. In this context, France will be assigned its own objective - probably, therefore , - 50%.
This is more than what is currently planned by the State (-40%).
