Corona vaccine from Novavax is coming: the start date in Nuremberg is fixed - Mayor König has great hopes

The Novavax vaccine will be available in Nuremberg from Friday (March 4).

Nuremberg will soon be vaccinating with the Novavax corona vaccine.

Those interested can already register.

The vaccine is initially reserved for workers in the health and care sector.

Nuremberg – On Friday (March 4th), Nuremberg will start the Novavax vaccinations.

The US company's Nuvaxovid corona vaccine is reserved for members of the prioritized groups until Saturday (March 5), the city writes in a press release.

This includes employees in the health and care sector.

Vaccination appointments can already be booked by telephone via the hotline (0911) 14 89 82 45 or online via the BayIMCO registration portal.

The city points out that the prioritization must be proven on site, for example by a confirmation from the employer.

From Monday (March 7th), anyone interested can get a Novavax pick - appointments for this can also be booked by telephone or online. 

Corona vaccination with Novavax starts in Nuremberg: Mayor König has hope

The vaccine is given in two doses.

A gap of at least three weeks is required in between.

The Stiko has issued a recommendation for people over the age of 18 for the vaccine - pregnant women or nursing mothers excepted.  

Nuvaxovid is a so-called protein vaccine and the first corona vaccine of this type to be approved in Germany.

A similar manufacturing process for vaccines that have already been approved, such as an HPV or flu vaccine, is used for the vaccine.  

Mayor Marcus König (CSU) therefore hopes “that the new vaccine will also convince people who had reservations about the previous vaccines and have therefore not yet been vaccinated”.

The new vaccine now offers an alternative, emphasizes Britta Walthelm, Advisor for Environment and Health.

Especially in the health and care sector, it is important to have the best possible protection.

Nuremberg: Interested parties can be vaccinated with Nuvaxovid here 

In Nuremberg, the vaccine Nuvaxovid from the US pharmaceutical manufacturer Novavax is administered at all three fixed vaccination centers.

These are located at Großreuther Straße 115b (former vehicle registration office), at Südliche Fürther Straße 14 (former N-Ergie customer center) and at Winklerstraße 22 (Feuerbachsaal of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce IHK).

Anyone interested can have the Corona Piks given here from Monday to Saturday between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

An appointment must be made in advance by telephone or online.

The city further announced that the desire for the Novavax vaccine should be specified.

Vaccination is possible without prior registration at the vaccination center Großreuther Straße 115b.

It is open daily from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
