The young man had broken, during the night, many windows of cars parked in the street to steal personal effects.

He also stole a vehicle which he sold for the modest sum of 200 euros.

Tried this Wednesday before the criminal court of Évry-Courcouronnes, the young man was sentenced to 8 months in prison, which can be arranged under an electronic bracelet, at his home in Seine-et-Marne.

Over-indebted after taking 167 fines for not wearing a mask and breaking curfew

“Are you aware that you are ruining people's lives by doing this?

These are people who leave for work in the morning, and who find their vehicles degraded, ”sermons the president of the court.

Raphael keeps a low profile.

Behind him, several victims came to claim damages, in particular the payment of the deductible of their insurance, or for the repairs undertaken at the garage… The damage of the twenty of the victims amounts to several thousand euros.

Problem, at 18, the young adult, who lives in Savigny-le-Temple (Seine-et-Marne), is already over-indebted.

An abyssal debt of 30,000 euros weighs on his young shoulders.

Since 2018, he has been fined 167 fines, according to his lawyer, most of them during confinement for not wearing a mask and not respecting the curfew… Since then, public finances have taken away from the salary of this temporary worker, leaving him the equivalent of an RSA on his bank account.

“He received up to eight in two hours, because he did not want to go home because of the family context, explains Clarisse Scialom.

Home is a dump.

It's normal that he doesn't want to stay a whole day!

The prosecutor, emphasizing the “derisory amount of the loot compared to the prejudice of the victims”, had demanded 10 months in prison which could be converted.

Already condemned in his minority, in particular for possession of narcotics and refusal to comply, Raphaël nevertheless now aspires "to a stable life".

The reason why his lawyer tried to convince the court to limit himself to a suspended sentence and probation.

“The key is that he has support because he needs us to be behind him.

His loot from thefts is very thin.

He sells the vehicle for 200 euros… It's so far from what specialists in the field could do.

It shows how immature he is.
