The number of refugees who have fled from Ukraine to neighboring countries amounted to more than 800,000 as of March 1, according to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

The UNHCR said on Tuesday that the situation in Ukraine could become "Europe's biggest refugee crisis this century," adding that it "is mobilizing resources to respond as quickly and effectively as possible."
The agency also appealed for US$1.7 billion, estimating that 12 million people inside Ukraine may need help and protection, and another 4 million are expected to need assistance in neighboring countries.
