The Assistant Head of the Iranian Judiciary for International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, reiterated his country's position calling for continuing international efforts to support and fulfill the rights of the Palestinian people.

During his talks in Geneva with South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor, the Iranian news agency (IRNA) quoted Gharibabadi as saying: “We have common concerns regarding strengthening the role of human rights in confronting terrorism and unilateral coercive measures and the efforts of some countries to politicize the issue of human rights and exploit it as a tool to pass its political agendas.

Gharibabadi also praised the role of South Africa and its principled positions regarding the politicized decisions in the field of human rights against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

For her part, the South African Foreign Minister condemned the crimes of the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people, noting in this regard her country's position on Israel's joining the African Union and its insistence on continuing this rejection.

Pandor emphasized her country's decision to support Iran, at the same time denouncing attempts to exploit human rights issues.

Pandor also called for cooperation between South Africa and Iran in various fields of common interest, noting the practical and technical achievements of the Islamic Republic.
