The war in the Ukraine drives the people of Munich.

They show their solidarity.

In the evening there is a big demo, in the morning politicians showed their colors.

Together for peace, Munich shows the flag!

To express their solidarity with Ukraine, several politicians met on Wednesday morning in front of the Munich Friedensengel.

The non-partisan alliance against the war in Ukraine was represented by Florian Streibl (Free Voters), Melanie Huml (CSU), Martin Hagen (FDP), Ronja Endres (SPD), Thomas Sarnowski (Greens) and Ates Gürpinar (Left).

They expressed their solidarity and held together a meter-long banner in the colors of the Ukrainian national flag.

It is nice to see how much encouragement there is and the important message to tackle it together, said Ronja Endres, state chair of the Bavarian SPD.

Prominent speakers announced for demo

On Wednesday evening, the big peace demonstration will take place on Königsplatz.

It should begin with a minute's silence.

Thousands of people want to gather to show their solidarity with Ukraine.

Flags, banners and signs paint a colorful picture.

The dominant colors: Clear, the Ukrainian national colors blue and yellow.

The list of speakers has it all.

In addition to Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) and Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD), representatives of all democratic parties, state parliament president Ilse Aigner and the Ukrainian Consul General Yuriy Yarmilko and many more had announced their coming.

Strong sign for peace

Florian von Brunn, the state chairman of the Bavarian SPD, had the idea for the rally.

After all parties had canceled their political Ash Wednesday, he found it appropriate to use the free date for other purposes.

So the Bavarian SPD took over the organization in order to get everything up and running in the short time available.

However, Ronja Endres emphasizes that it is a non-partisan action.

It should be a beautiful, harmonious and dignified action, she had wished before the beginning of the rally.

She classified the political situation as follows: "Of course it's not a nice situation, but I think Chancellor Olaf Scholz has made clear announcements, and that's how it should continue." In any case, Munich has sent a strong signal, a signal for peace .
