Christiane Taubira acknowledged on Wednesday that she would not have the 500 sponsorships necessary to validate her presidential candidacy and ended her campaign during a press conference.
"
It is obvious that we will not succeed in having the sponsorships
," said the 70-year-old former minister, who announced his candidacy on January 15 and came first in the citizens' initiative of the popular primary 15 days later, determined to try to unite on the left, but without succeeding.
The candidate indicated that she would express “
in the coming weeks (her) vote of the first round
”, and assured that “
we will continue the fight
”, “
we will continue to fight
”.

We are not in a regime of separation of powers
", she denounced, regretting that her candidacy anchored in a citizens' initiative was prevented by an "
administrative device
", that of sponsorships, which "
is living its last hours
".
She castigated the parties "
which never stop dying
", "
shunned by their militants
", "
neglected by their electorate
" and which "
only have their capacity to cause harm
