The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, Majid Takht Ravanchi, affirmed that the draft resolution submitted to the General Assembly for a vote on Ukraine lacked impartiality and did not have the opportunity for all members to participate in its drafting.
The Iranian news agency IRNA reported that during the emergency meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on Ukraine, Ravanchi expressed his country's concern about the latest developments in Ukraine, calling for the need to take into account the security concerns of the Russian Federation.
Takht Ravanchi also called on the United Nations to avoid double standards in dealing with issues related to international peace and security, pointing out that the current complex and fragile situation in Eastern Europe was exacerbated by provocative actions by the United States and NATO.
Takht Raunji reiterated his country's principled position on the necessity of reaching a peaceful settlement of the current crisis in accordance with international law.
