Israel between the hammer and the anvil • Jerusalem clarifies: "Aid policy will not change" • Ukrainian Ambassador: "The situation is like in the Six Day War" • Israeli Deputy Ambassador to the UN: "International law violated"

Israel is expected to vote today (Wednesday) at the UN General Assembly in favor of condemning Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. However, Jerusalem continues to take a cautious stance, criticizing the Russian invasion only moderately.

UN Ambassador Noa Furman last night represented Israel in a rally, saying: "The Russian attack on Ukraine - a serious violation of international order, we have condemned it, and we call on Russia to heed the calls of the international community to stop the attack and respect territorial integrity and territorial integrity. "In the Foreign Ministry, they chose the deputy and not Ambassador Arden, as a message to the Russians that Israel is not taking a line against me.

In Ukraine expect more

Meanwhile, Israel does not intend to change its aid policy to Ukraine, despite the requests of the State Ambassador to Israel, Ivan Korinchuk.

A source in the political system told "Israel Today" that Israeli policy is reviewed every few hours and may change depending on developments.

But at this stage the political system believes that given the totality of interests, Israeli policy is balanced and understood by the international community.

Prime Minister Bennett said yesterday at a meeting at the Mossad: "Israel has taken a measured and responsible line from the first moment, which allows us not only to safeguard our interests, but also to benefit. And we do help, quietly. "

On the Ukrainian side, however, more is expected from Israel.

Ambassador Korinchuk said at a press conference that the situation in his country is difficult, "like the Six Day War that was in Israel."

He welcomed the 100-ton humanitarian shipment sent to Israel last night, but argued that Israel should allow refugees from his country to enter Israel, "as thousands of Ukrainian Righteous Among the Nations did during World War II.

He stressed that his country is interested in protective equipment such as helmets, which can no longer be obtained in Europe.

He added: "We want the propaganda broadcasts of pro-Russian media in Israel to stop. We will take care of ourselves and win. Putin wanted us to surrender. It will not happen."

Although the first round of talks between Ukraine and Russia has yielded cautious optimism, as of yesterday it is unclear whether this is possible.

On the one hand, Russia claimed that another round of negotiations would be held today, but on the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zalansky hinted in an interview with CNN that there was no point in talks without Russia stopping harming the civilian population.

Zalansky also referred to the Russian demand that Ukraine not join NATO and offered an alternative agreement with the US that would ensure its safety.

"If the Allies are not yet ready to join us, we need to formulate security guarantees for Ukraine so that our territorial integrity is preserved and our security is guaranteed."

"We have proven our strength"

In a UN General Assembly emergency debate, condemnations of Moscow's aggression continued. The vote to recommend Ukraine as a candidate for full membership of the EU passed with a majority of 637 in favor, 13 against and 26 abstentions.

Prior to the vote, Ukrainian President Zlansky addressed the European Parliament in a recorded speech, calling on members to work for Ukraine's accession to the EU.

"We have proved our strength. Prove that you are with us, that you will not leave us. Prove that you are Europeans, and then life will defeat death and the light will overcome the darkness," he said.

At the same time, many diplomats have boycotted Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's speech at a arms embargo conference held in Geneva yesterday.

The conference room remained almost empty, with only representatives from Syria, Yemen, Tunisia and Venezuela present.

"Western countries must not build military installations on the territory of the former Soviet Union that are not part of NATO, and their infrastructure must not be used for any military action," Lavrov said in his speech.
