Ukraine war: Biden threatens Putin - "He has no idea what to expect"

Joe Biden's first State of the Union address was about the Ukraine war.

The speech was a challenge to Putin.

In the end, Russia's president will be the loser of the conflict.

US President Biden’s State of the Union speech was a declaration of war on Russia’s President Putin in the Ukraine war.

Joe Biden announced new sanctions against Russia and threatened Putin with severe consequences for the attack on Ukraine.

“Putin unleashed violence and chaos.

But while he may make gains on the battlefield, in the long run he will pay a heavy price," Biden said in his address.

Biden announced that because of the conflict, the US would also close its airspace to Russian planes - after the EU and Canada.

This move will further isolate Russia and further increase the economic cost to Moscow of attacking Ukraine.

Putin thought he could split the West and NATO would not react.

"Putin was wrong, we were prepared...he has no idea what's coming," Biden threatened.

The US President also declared war on Russian oligarchs close to Putin.

The US was working with European allies "to find and seize their yachts, their luxury homes and their private jets," Biden said.

"We come to take their ill-gotten gains."

Biden believes that as a result of Western sanctions, Putin is now "more isolated from the world than ever before."

Russia's economy is already reeling, said the US President.

"By the time the history of that era is written, Putin's war with Ukraine will have left Russia weaker and the rest of the world stronger." 

Biden praised the resistance of the Ukrainians.

"Her fearlessness, courage and determination inspire the world," he said.

“Putin may encircle Kyiv with tanks, but he will never win the hearts and souls of Ukrainians.

He will never erase her love of freedom.

He will never weaken the resolve of the free world.” Biden said that in the contest between democracies and autocracies, democracies rose to the challenge, “and the world is clearly choosing peace and security.”

Biden promised further military, economic and humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
