The activists of the "Fridays for Future" movement are taking to the streets against Russia's war in Ukraine and for human rights and democracy.

  • The climate protection movement “Fridays for Future” will also raise its voice in the Ukraine conflict*.

  • After the attack from Russia* on Ukraine*, the activists are calling for a worldwide “peace strike” on Thursday (03/03/2022).

  • Numerous protest actions against Russia's President Vladimir Putin* and his followers are expected in Germany.

Also in Frankfurt* should be demonstrated.

Frankfurt am Main - The climate protection movement "Fridays for Future" will demonstrate worldwide on Thursday against the Ukraine war.

The offshoot of the movement in Ukraine itself had initially called for this via Twitter. Due to the tense situation and the ongoing Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities, one cannot wait until Friday.

The protest should therefore take place on Thursday.

In Germany, "Fridays for Future" is currently planning around 30 protest actions and demonstrations against the Ukraine war.

A large demo is to take place at 12.30 p.m. in Berlin in front of the Bundestag*.

In Hamburg, the organizers can expect tens of thousands of participants from 12 noon.

Students are exempted from attending classes.

Also in Munich (5:00 p.m.), Cologne (5:30 p.m.) and at the main guard station in Frankfurt (6:00 p.m.) a sign against war and for peace is to be set.

Further demonstrations have been announced in Hanover, Braunschweig and Göttingen, among others.

Fridays for Future against the Ukraine war

"Fridays for Future" activist Luisa Neubauer told the Frankfurter Rundschau that "the decision was made not to remain silent but to speak up, to show solidarity and to fight for a safe world in which fossil fuels do not fuel further wars and finance it.” Neubauer and her friends from “Fridays for Future” are in close contact with the activists in Ukraine.

“We hear the worst from there.

We expect the worst,” said Neubauer.

The "Fridays for Future" protests against the aggressive war from Russia are part of a global day of action under the motto "Stand with Ukraine".

The environmentalists had actually called for a new global climate strike on March 25th.

But due to the current events in Ukraine, people should already be taking to the streets.

The movement also referred to the link between fossil resources and military conflicts.

She called for an end to imports of oil, gas and hard coal from Russia and for Ukraine to join the European Union.
