The Ashdod Customs Administration stated that the cooperation between them and the National Cargo Diagnostic Center, the body responsible for sharing information between Israeli law enforcement agencies, "has in the past led to the detection and identification of various smuggling attempts in Gaza including ammunition and various dual-use products intended for the Gaza Strip manufacturing industry." .
It was also stated that the Customs Administration "will continue its regular effort to prevent smuggling at border crossings with an emphasis on smuggling weapons and materials used in its production."
About a month ago, the Transit Authority at the Kerem Shalom crossing into the Gaza Strip thwarted an attempt to smuggle more than 10,000 rifle and pistol bullets intended to reach terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip.
The ammunition was hidden inside a delivery of housewares.
