Following the war: Flight prices rise Israel today

2022-03-03T12:37:16.438Z

Airlines are expected to act in response to fluctuations in fuel prices, and raise flight ticket prices • In addition, some flights are lengthened due to avoidance of crossing over Russia

The sky has opened, most countries in the world are already receiving tourists, and we seemed to be on our way to a routine alongside the corona.

Along with the good news and high demand, the difficult war began in Ukraine which is now leading to a spike in airline ticket prices.

Travel agents received an email this morning from Etihad, stating that it will update the fares in accordance with the prices of fuel on flights to all the company's destinations.

Etihad is not alone: all airlines in the world are expected to operate in the same format.

In a zoom conversation we had this morning with the CEO of El Al, he answered the question "Israel Today" and said that this is a global trend, and all airlines are expected to act in accordance with price fluctuations.

It is important to emphasize that it is not just flight prices that are soaring.

Sri Lanka is waiting long hours for refueling vehicles and so are other countries, leading to rising mobility prices, which are expected to rise in commodity prices and a significant surge in prices, given the sharp rise in barrel and fuel prices, which were updated this week in Israel and broke a record of almost a decade.

Another factor in the rise in world flight prices is the very high demand for flights abroad. With the opening of the skies and the possibility of the unvaccinated (including children) returning to Israel without the need for full isolation, many Israelis book flights to dozens of destinations. The demand for them to be even more attractive.

Ziv Rosen, CEO of the Gulliver Group, commented on rising prices and demand:

"We are seeing an increase of a few percent this week compared to the previous week for the same departure dates.

Part of the reason for this is due to the demand and proximity to Passover and spring, but we have no doubt that as long as it lasts the airlines will not be able to absorb the rise in fuel prices.

Some of the lines are lengthening because there are no flights over Russia and Ukraine, and we estimate that there will be an increase of at least 10% -20%.

"What do you do? Anyone who knows who wants to fly should book as soon as possible and preferably a flexible ticket, so that it will be possible to earn a relatively cheap ticket with change options. Airlines will initially raise prices to the most sought-after destinations. "England, Greece, Turkey, Spain and Georgia."
