This additional cost will amount to 8.30 euros every two months, or 49.80 euros per year.

It will apply to users not equipped with a Linky meter, and who in addition have not provided Enedis with their consumption index for more than 12 months.

The date of entry into force of this provision is set for January 1, 2022. As soon as a Linky meter is installed, this over-billing will end.

This amount may change “

from August 1, 2022

”, specifies the CRE.

And, from 2025, “

all users not equipped with Linky (unless technically impossible)

” will be subject to this additional cost.

3.8 million French people not equipped

According to the CRE, "

Enedis estimates an average additional cost of around 26 million euros per year over the period 2022-2024 for the processing of residual reading for around 500,000 silent customers

In total, at the end of 2021, 3.8 million French people, or around 10%, were still not equipped with a Linky meter, which raises fears among some.
