The Tunisian authorities have found the bodies of four migrants from Africa, who probably died due to frost and starvation, in the east of the country.
"Three bodies were found yesterday and a fourth body was found five days ago in Hydra, Kasserine province," near the Algerian border, Dr. Abdel Ghani Chaabani, regional health director, was quoted by AFP as saying.
The same source clarified that the ages of the migrants, all of them men, ranged between twenty and 35 years old, and hailed from sub-Saharan Africa, pointing out that one of them was from Ivory Coast, being the only one who had an identity card.
Shaabani added that the bodies were taken to Kasserine Hospital for autopsy, suggesting that "they were likely to have died due to frost and starvation."
Hundreds of migrants head to Tunisia in the hope of reaching the coast and heading to Europe by crossing the Mediterranean by rickety boats.
