A quick look at the picture will reveal the number 528, but is it really the "right" number?
A closer look will reveal that the number 45283 is actually hidden there, but is that the final number?
The answer is no!
Only the discerning will see the full number containing seven digits: 3452839. Yes, the two digits - 3 on the left and 9 on the right - can hardly be seen but they are definitely there.
"I can only see the number 528. Does that say anything about my vision?"
One asked in response and another added: "I see 45283. What's the catch? Should I make an appointment with the ophthalmologist?".
Another user wrote: "I understand from the comments that there are two other digits there except 45283. I see them but can not identify them."
And what does it mean if we have not seen the full number?
The illusion seems to be a measure of sensitivity to contrast.
Contrast sensitivity measures the amount of contrast required to identify an object, such as the numbers in the image.
Sensitivity to contrast is a suspicious measure of our visual function, allowing us to perceive the difference between objects and their background.
We encounter this contrast in reality when driving in low light or fog, where a higher level of sensitivity to contrast is required as the contrast between objects and their background is reduced.
According to the Vision Center "Sensitivity to contrast is the ability to distinguish between an object and the background behind it. Sensitivity to contrast differs from visual acuity, which measures how clear your vision is at a given distance.
