Tens of thousands of people gathered in Wenceslas Square in Prague on Friday evening to denounce the Russian invasion of Ukraine eight days ago.

While the demonstrators called for an end to the fighting which has already caused thousands of deaths, giant screens had been installed in the square.

In the early evening, the Ukrainian president, some of whom called for him to be a Nobel Peace Prize winner, spoke.

After twice asking for a minute of silence for the victims of the war, combatants and then women and children who have lost their lives since the start of the war, Zelensky implored Europeans to continue to denounce Russian crimes in Ukraine.

And to call to "take to the streets".

“This fight is the victory of good against evil, it is the victory of freedom against what is happening in Ukraine.

If Ukraine falls, all of Europe will fall,” he added.
