Who will represent Germany at the ESC 2022?

Six acts are fighting for a ticket to Turin in the German preliminary round "Germany 12 Points" on Friday evening.

The live ticker.

  • Germany is looking for a participant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin on Friday evening.

  • In the German preliminary round "Germany 12 Points", six acts will compete against each other from 9 p.m.

  • In our live ticker you will not miss any decision.

Hamburg – On May 14th of this year, the eyes of millions of enthusiastic music fans will be directed towards northern Italy, where the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 will take place.

At last year's edition, the Italian band Måneskin* was able to convince the audience not only with their extravagant appearance, but also with their sheer vocal power and brought the ESC to Italy for the third time in its history.

Turin 2022 follows Naples 1965 and Rome 1991. The fight for the European singing crown is on again.

ESC 2022: Germany in search of success - who is going to Turin?

From a German perspective, the ESC 2021 unfortunately joined the ever-growing list of failures that began after Lena's surprise victory in 2010 and the missed title defense in Düsseldorf in 2011.

Only fourth place for Michael Schulte in 2018 is one of the positive results in recent German ESC history.

Otherwise, in the past ten years, German representatives have twice reached the last place and three times the penultimate place.

Last year, Jendrik* only got three points for the single "I Don't Feel Hate", only not finishing last because the UK couldn't score a single point.

However, the last few years have already shown that Germany cannot be deterred by poor rankings at the ESC.

Wipe your mouth and keep going seems to be the motto again in 2022 and so the Federal Republic of Germany is again looking for a suitable representation in Turin this year.

A tried and tested model is used.

After the German participants were selected by a jury of experts in the past two years and could not be chosen by the TV viewers, a preliminary decision will be made again this year.

Starting at 9 p.m. this Friday, six acts will be fighting for a ticket to Turin and the unique opportunity to represent Germany at the ESC.

Even if the pre-selection of the six participants in the preliminary decision was again made by a jury, the decision is now entirely in the hands of the spectators.

All ESC fans have been able to vote for their favorites on the websites of the nine ARD* pop waves since February 28th.

Voting closes at 8 p.m.

  • Malik Harris*

  • Mal & Jonas

  • Felicia Lu

  • Eros Atomus

  • Emily Roberts

  • Nico Suave & Team love

On Friday evening from 9 p.m. all six acts can once again present their contributions to the TV viewers.

You can then continue to vote in the classic way by calling or texting.

After that, whoever has received the most votes goes to Turin.

The "Germany 12 Points" show will be moderated by ESC veteran Barbara Schöneberger*, supported by her guests Thomas Hermanns, Bülent Ceylan, Jane Comerford and the Austrian ESC winner Conchita Wurst.

Preliminary decision for the ESC live: the appearance of the surprise guest is eagerly awaited

The appearance of a surprise guest announced shortly in advance could also ensure a very special moment.

The singer Jamala, who won the ESC* for Ukraine in 2016, will appear on the TV show on Friday evening.

Just days after the 38-year-old was forced to flee her home country due to the Russian invasion.
