The policewoman denied the allegations and the case will be heard in the Kwun Tong Court today (4th).
The court revealed that after the female defendant was released on bail for the crime of theft, she went to the coffee shop after reporting to the police station. After making two cups of coffee, she went to the department store to steal a backpack. When the security guard stopped her, she pulled up her skirt to reveal her genitals.
The defense alleges that the defendant suffers from major depressive disorder and auditory hallucinations and other mental illnesses, and will dispute his criminal intent.
The first case of stealing scarves and chocolate
Female defendant Liu Jier, 48, was charged with four counts of theft, one count of possession of an offensive weapon and one count of indecent conduct in a public place.
4 crimes and 2 cases in total, one of which is that on December 17, 2020, she stole 1 blue and black Gucci scarves at the Twist store in Kwun Tong apm mall, totaling 5,513 yuan; the other at Godiva chocolate shop Steal 1 box of sliced black chocolate, 1 box of Cube truffle chocolate and 2 boxes of truffle chocolate, totaling HK$2,666.
The second case was intercepted
Another case alleges that on June 26, 2021, she stole a water cup worth 210 yuan and possessed a knife at the Starbucks coffee shop in MegaBox, Ngau Tau Kok; she also stole a knife from AEON Department Store on the same day A black rucksack worth 824 yuan, and indecent exposure of her pussy.
The clerk ordered the goods and found that the scarf was stolen
The prosecution and defense agreed that in the first theft case, Liu Wanwen, the deputy manager of Twist’s Kwun Tong store, found two Gucci scarves missing when ordering goods. Liu checked CCTV and called the police.
On the 26th of the same month, about 9 days after the goods were found stolen, Liu saw the defendant lining up outside the store. The police arrived at the scene and found the defendant holding a black bag containing 6 boxes of Godiva chocolate.
The store manager of the Godiva Kwun Tong store later confirmed that the defendant had only purchased two boxes of chocolate, and the remaining four boxes had not been paid for.
The police then arrested the accused twice for the two thefts.
Take two bags of Lego bricks to the cashier for a water cup change
After the defendant reported to the Sau Mau Ping Police Station on June 26, 2021, he went to the Starbucks branch in Ngau Tau Kok at about 9:00 p.m., pulled out a knife with an exposed blade, and placed two bags of Lego bricks on the cash register, asking for them to be used. The building blocks are exchanged for water cups.
At the same time, the defendant brandished and put a knife to her neck, claiming that if the clerk did not give her the water glass, she would kill herself, and the clerk had to do what she said.
The defendant finally asked the clerk to pour 2 cups of hot coffee into the two black water bottles she brought.
Stopped by the security guard, pulled up her skirt and didn't wear panties
The defendant then went to the nearby department store AEON and purchased 2 Adidas backpacks, but did not pay for the other purple backpack in the trolley. The supermarket security discovered the incident and stopped the defendant.
The defendant became emotional, took out the purple backpack, and suddenly pulled up his skirt to reveal his genitals. At that time, the defendant was not wearing underwear.
After the defendant left, the security guard followed. Upon seeing this, the defendant took out a knife and said that he would commit suicide.
But she immediately put down the knife and left after hearing the security warning to call the police.
Then on July 2, the defendant was arrested again at Sau Mau Ping Police Station.
The prosecution wanted to prove that they were told what they did
The prosecution said it would summon Twist's deputy manager and the detaining police officer to testify, and would rely on 65 minutes of CCTV footage showing the defendant's actions that day, including removing the anti-theft sign from the neck scarf involved.
The magistrate pointed out that the defense claimed that the defendant suffered from severe depression for many years and had auditory hallucinations and other problems. His behavior at the time of the crime was not under the control of his thoughts, and the CCTV footage did not prove his criminal intent.
The prosecution responded that they would try to prove that the defendant knew what he was doing at the time and disputed the psychiatrist's report submitted by the defence.
