Tokyo stock market collapses after fire at Ukrainian nuclear plant

The reports about the Russian invasion and fighting in Ukraine also affect the stock exchange in Tokyo and cause prices to fall.
Tokyo - After reports of fighting near Europe's largest nuclear power plant in Ukraine, the Asian stock exchange in Tokyo has recorded heavy losses.
One hour after the start of trading, the Nikkei, which comprises 225 leading stocks, was down a sharp drop of 688.62 points or 2.59 percent from the intermediate level of 25,888.65 points.
According to the local administration, a fire is said to have broken out when the Russian invasion troops attacked near the nuclear power plant near the southern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhia.
The fighting must be stopped immediately for security reasons, the mayor of the nearby city of Enerhodar, Dmytro Orlow, demanded on Friday night via the Telegram news service.
