About 40 children and adolescents at the Cultural Center in Homs learned about the basics of the media world, the importance of the image and its role in documenting events, and the principles of writing news and press reports within a training workshop entitled “When my voice soars.”
The workshop, which was held by the Children and Adolescents Department in the Directorate of Culture in Homs, in cooperation with the journalist Abdul-Momen al-Hassan, dealt with several axes, most notably the power of the media and the press in our current world and its multiple fields and effective means and tools that have greatly affected societies, in addition to its importance in education and entertainment and its role in the transfer and exchange of information and news. .
The participants, whose ages ranged between 5 and 17 years, were trained on the way to present in front of the camera and the rules and principles of reading news bulletins in an expressive manner, away from shame and confusion, while adhering to the rules of the Arabic language in formation and expression.
Renee El-Sit, Sarah El-Hassan, Muhammad Idris and Saif Ismail expressed their enjoyment of participating and delivering and their familiarization with audio, print, visual and electronic media, while the young people Abdel-Momen Dallah and Abdel-Latif El-Hassan saw that the media bear many positive and negative aspects when it publishes false and misleading information, and it is necessary to use it in an appropriate manner. It is essential to educate people about the correct information.
