The Aying brewery is looking for a new host for the "Ayinger" restaurant on the town hall square in Ottobrunn.

As brewery director Helmut Erdmann confirms when asked by Merkur, the contract with the previous tenant Markus Grenzdörffer has expired.

– Erdmann does not want to comment on the exact reasons, but Grenzdörffer probably wants to concentrate on his second inn, the traditional restaurant “Tannengarten” in Munich-Sendling.

Grenzdörffer only took over the "Tannengarten" a few years ago.

The inn is currently being renovated and, according to the website, will reopen in March this year.

The "Ayinger" in the Wolf-Ferrari-Haus is also closed until further notice.

However, Erdmann hopes that the inn can be reopened in the course of spring, or early summer at the latest.

“We are in talks with several interested parties,” he says.

Among them are "very interesting hosts".

Good hosts hard to find

After two years of pandemic with the significant effects on the hotel and restaurant sector, it is by no means a matter of course to find hosts who want to take over a restaurant, emphasizes Erdmann.

From his point of view, it is all the more gratifying that several restaurateurs are trying to get the "Ayinger".

However, the tavern in the Wolf-Ferrari-Haus is also a "really exciting task" for a tenant.

After all, it is not just a question of managing a large restaurant with a large beer garden and five bowling alleys in the basement, but also of overcoming the gastronomic challenges of the Wolf-Ferrari-Haus as a conference center and cultural institution.

Stimulating culture through the tavern would be good

No wonder that Horst Frank, head of the Wolf Ferrari House, is hoping that the inn will reopen as soon as possible.

“The restaurant breathes life into our home.

That's why we need a new, good tenant quickly.” At the moment, attempts are being made to temporarily keep the cultural and conference business running as far as the gastronomy is concerned.

"Our house can provide drinks, and we suggest that companies use the services of caterers for meetings," says Frank.

But you can't afford more.

It is therefore urgently necessary to have real gastronomy in the house again.
