With the aim of raising the scientific and professional level of practicing lawyers, the Bar Association today, in cooperation with Damascus University, conducted an entrance exam for graduates wishing to join it for the first time in the history of its work.

The head of the Bar, Firas Faris Bayn, told SANA reporter that the total number of applicants reached 1,000 male and female students in all governorates, indicating that the exam came as a result of the problem that was noticed during the recent periods among graduates of some private universities, in addition to the large increase in the number of members of the Syndicate.

Al-Faris pointed out that the exam will be conducted at least three times annually, and that the failing student can reapply more than once if he does not exceed the legal age specified in the law organizing the profession, which is 50 years, indicating that the aim of the exam is to improve the quality of legal and professional performance of lawyers and that they be on High academic and professional level.

For his part, Dr. Haitham Al-Tas, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Damascus University, explained that the university has completed its preparations and logistical preparations for taking the exam, as the number of applicants at Damascus University reached 570 lawyers, distributed among the branches of Damascus and its countryside, Quneitra and Raqqa.

Lawyer Faisal Jammoul, a member of the Central Syndicate, indicated that the exam was a dedication to the importance of the Syndicate and its role, to raise its work and the level of its members, and to emphasize the importance of preparing for practicing the profession and prior training, noting that the required rate of success is 60, and the results are expected to be issued in the coming days.

Student Mulham Othman, a graduate of 2019, said, “The questions are comprehensive, good and varied within the profession, in terms of how to deal with cases and the basics of the judiciary, and that this exam is a necessary step to raise the level of the union. Graduate students answer the questions that came according to six groups, each containing four questions that include a specific subject.
