Russia uses nuclear deal with Iran to put pressure on Washington:
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced today (Saturday) that Moscow will ask Washington for guarantees that it can continue to trade with Iran, in order to support the emerging nuclear deal between Iran and the powers.
"We have asked our American counterparts to provide us with written guarantees, at the level of Secretary of State at least that the current sanctions removal process in negotiations with Iran will not infringe on Russia's rights to trade freely, in the areas of investment, economy and security with Iran," the Russian foreign minister told a news conference.
Earlier today, Iran announced its readiness to work on a "road map" document with the United Nations' Atomic Energy Agency, following a visit by the agency's secretary general, Rafael Grossi.
The Russian himself referred to contacts with Tehran and said that his organization would adopt a "practical approach" that would allow a quick agreement to be reached between the powers and Iran.
