The discussion about the energy supply has picked up speed again in Bavaria since the Ukraine crisis.

Wind power would be an alternative if it weren't for the 10H rule.

Munich - The future of the German and thus also the Bavarian energy supply has not only been an issue since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict.

In the long term, people throughout Germany want to move away from fossil fuels towards renewable forms of energy.

In any case, in the short term they want to break away from their dependency on Russian gas.

And there seems to be a solution for that as well.

A start-up from Regensburg has already developed a promising technology.

In order to generate more energy from renewable energies in Bavaria, more wind turbines are needed, among other things.

But that's easier said than done.

Reason: the 10H rule.

It states that a wind turbine must be at least 10 times its height away from built-up areas.

However, this is difficult to implement in densely populated Bavaria.

In addition, there are repeated protests by citizens against the systems.

The 10H rule also regularly leads to disputes in the Bavarian coalition between the CSU and Free Voters and was picked up in the most recent edition of the ZDF satirical show “heute-show” (March 4).

Energy supply in Bavaria: Hubert Aiwanger is playing with the return to nuclear power

The fact that the two coalition partners, the CSU and the Free Voters, are not entirely green is nothing new.

But the trench warfare between the two parties has also decreased as the Corona crisis abated.

Energy policy could become a new topic of controversy.

FW boss and at the same time Bavaria's Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger wants to rely more on wind power and doesn't think much of the 10H rule.

"We want to be less dependent on energy imports," he says in the "heute show" in an interview with comedian Fabian Köster.

He then proposes a return to nuclear power.

In fact, Aiwanger has already considered this option.

So he announced on Friday (March 4th) in the

Augsburger Allgemeine

that he would consider restarting the nuclear power plants.

Prime Minister Markus Söder is also relying on nuclear power for the transition phase.

Aiwanger: "We are experiencing a war on our doorstep, a nuclear power plant also offers the potential for blackmail." He himself would therefore rely more heavily on coal when weighing up "nuclear against coal", regardless of the examination of the restart of the nuclear power plants.

Regarding the 10H rule, he told the daily newspaper: "We must finally break through the knot in wind power, which means at least dropping the 10H distance rule in the forests and in the priority and reserved areas that have already been designated and start planning immediately. "

ZDF "heute-show": Comedian Köster makes Söder a unique offer

Köster asked the all-important question at the end of the interview.

"Who's more annoying right now?

Mark?

soder?

Or the prime minister?” Aiwanger countered skillfully.

"I'm not allowed to tell you that in public." And then added, "I can tell you later in private."

After the Vice-President, the Head of State himself also had his say.

After a pointed question about his changeable politics, Söder answered somewhat grammatically clumsily: "Wrong.

Bavaria is always a strong wind.

And it always blows forward.” Köster countered: “Then get rid of 10H and set up a few wind turbines.” That would also be done, but without touching the 10H rule, it echoed back to him.

Then Söder came out with the actual problem.

Bavaria has much more solar and water energy than wind energy.

Köster disagreed.

"The wind atlas from your ministries says something else." The CSU boss did not go into that.

An exchange of words à la Louis de Funès ensued.

"No", "yes", "no", "yes".

The conversation seemed deadlocked.

However, Köster had the crucial solution and made Söder a unique offer.

"You abolish the 10-hour rule and the 'heute-show' keeps a 10-hour distance from you until the summer break."

It's going to be a serious offer," said the country manager with a smile and went on his way.
